Wardian case - The Wardian case, the direct forerunner of the modern terrarium (and the inspiration for the glass aquarium), was invented by Dr. Nathaniel Bagshaw Ward (1791-1868), of London, in about 1829 after an accidental discovery inspired him.
Undertank heater - This is a heating device created by the pet industry for husbandry of reptiles and amphibians. It is a flat piece of metal and plastic similar to a heating pad which adheres to the underside of a glass aquarium or terrarium, which then must be slightly elevated to avoid pinching the cord.
Higgins glass - Higgins glass is collectable art glass fashioned by Michael and Frances Higgins, in Chicago, during the late 20th century. It is fused glass, sheets of glass with enamel decoration or glass decoration, placed atop each other and heated together in a kiln, often "slumped" into a particular mold.
